Flat to Fabulous: Outdoor Park Benches

Profile-Tek collaborated with Camden Council and artist Kevin Vo to deliver a unique public artwork project featuring the “River Friends” series of outdoor benches. Using laser cutting and folding techniques on 10mm mild steel, the team produced structurally sound and visually striking components. The project required translating intricate animal-themed cut-outs into robust, safe, and durable seating solutions that enhanced Camden’s revitalisation project. The result was a community-focused outcome that blended function, artistry, and fabrication excellence.

The Challenge

Camden Council’s “River Friends” public artwork initiative required the creation of outdoor park benches that combined safety, durability, and creative flair. The designs featured intricate animal-themed cut-outs—including platypus, carp, and frog motifs—developed by artist Kevin Vo. The challenge was to transform these delicate artistic concepts into robust steel structures that would endure daily use and exposure to the elements, while retaining their intended visual appeal and meeting the practical requirements of a public revitalisation project.

Our Solution

Profile-Tek utilised precision laser cutting and folding techniques on 10mm mild steel to bring the complex designs to life. The team engineered structural bench frames and supporting components with accuracy, ensuring each cut-out was represented cleanly and faithfully.
